Home learning support

This is a summary of all the information for parents about how we are supporting learning at home during the Covid-19 closure.

During the school’s closure, we will be working hard to provide educational activities online for your children. Each day, class teachers will use Class Dojo to send a message with a link to that day’s lessons. We will mainly be using a mix of Google Classroom, IXL maths and Purple Mash, with other materials where necessary. Our plan is to provide a range of work and learning that covers the subjects normally taught during a normal school week. Using these different platforms will allow teachers to mark and give feedback too.

Our expectations are that children should continue to read for 30 minutes each day, spend no more than 1 hour at a time online, with a maximum of 2 hours each day online doing school work.

All the activities will appear on the school’s computing links pages. Your child should have a new login card with this address printed on it, along with their usernames and passwords. The addresses are also printed below.

Here is an outline of what each class will be using for most days. We will add new activities to these in due course.

Information will be sent out daily on Class Dojo with the activities we expect children to take part in. Please make sure you have linked to Class Dojo as this will make it much easier for you to share work with your children. We have held lessons this week reminding the children how to go online using their usernames and passwords, and they have all managed to do this brilliantly. However, if you have any problems, please use Class Dojo to let us know.

Our plan is to send out a message at 9am each day and follow up at around 1.30pm. Feedback and comments will be given where appropriate. We expect all children to take part as much as possible.
